Lois & Clark (Season 4)

The Fourth and Final Season of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman was aired from 1996-1997.

This season had several two-part episodes. It started where the previous season left off with Lord Nor trying to take over Clark's hometown of Smallville and a dramatic final battle determining Clark's decision to stay on Earth and finally marry Lois which they did in the third episode "Swear to God, This Time We're Not Kidding."

The season also ended with a cliffhanger of Lois and Clark finding a baby wrapped in a blanket bearing Superman's symbol on it along with a note saying that the child belonged to them.

Even though this mystery was never resolved in the series itself, Brad Buckner who had been the executive producer and writer for the last two seasons later revealed in an interview that the baby was from Kryptonian royalty and had been sent to Earth for Lois and Clark to protect from assassins.

A fifth season was in development, but due to Teri's pregnancy, she was unable to work, so it never came about. Years later however, Dean said in an interview for 7 News Sydney that it still needed a fifth season and he and Teri were willing to put it into effect to conclude the cliffhanger.
